Fore-Foreword (May 11, 2025):
I started writing this novel when I made the decision to quit my day job and pursue my dreams of building a startup, when I was 25. I was fed up with the cookie-cutter production-line type of work that conventional engineering jobs offered, and I had so many ideas and passion for creating things that I felt was going to waste. After an amazing college experience where I created several interesting systems from scratch with great teammates, I knew I could do better, despite not having the resources to do so.
So I unrooted my entire life and pursued a Master's degree to commercialize one of my crazy ideas - and I knew it was crazy. But I was OK with that because I realized that the path I was embarking on was much longer and richer than the bounds of that idea or venture, that I was starting to live in harmony with my values and identity, and able to finally start writing my first novel, that explores the phenomena of creation and being, intimately yet celestially, titled Chasing Sunset.
I wrote about a third of the novel in the first year of my decision - during my move to Boston and pursuing my first startup, but after that I hit a writers block. I started to become consumed with my work and learning new things that challenged and enriched the narrative of the book...
Over the years I've written more, had epiphanies and false alarms... I have gradually settled into a theme for it, but I have yet to sit down and complete the story arc at the level of focus and quality that I'd like.
I will do it eventually, and I write this note not only as a self-important and unsolicited lecture, but as a point for others to keep me accountable - if you've read this far and you're interested, please tell me :)
